Matthew 6:1-15:

Be a Chosen Torchbearer in God's Olympics...carry the torch of Christ to the world and let His light shine.

Exercise caution in the methods and motivations of our Giving, Praying, Fasting:

By proper motivation, our actions point the world to Christ, the wrong motivations point the world's eyes to us.

Giving: Privately (let not the left hand know what the right hand is doing), Unto God (not before men, but to God)

Praying: For the right reasons (not to be seen of men, but to be heard of God, not for the applause of man, but unto God) This is not a caution against all pblic prayer, but it is again a call to be careful of our motivations.  Consider your prayers from these motivations: Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication.

Our public prayers will be of no more value than our private prayers, and if the private prayers do not exist, then our public prayer is mere hypocrisy.
